Marketing and Selling can be tricky things.

I want to do if effectively and with integrity.

This is my:

Ethical Marketing Manifesto:

Outlining my intentions, practices, and beliefs,

and inviting you to help me to do it right.

My Ethical Marketing Manifesto:

I value you; and, I value your time.  In my emails, I write about the experiences in my life and my work that I feel are worth sharing. Worth sharing means that I hope they serve you, either with helpful direction, life insights, notes and notices on time worthy events, and programs that I’m either delivering or that I fully believe in.

If you are anything like me, your BS reader is pretty high, you get more offers than you know what to do with, and you have enough generic information to consume that it can be OAF (overwhelming as F). When you open an email from me, I hope that it serves you. The last thing I want is for it to cause your BS and OAF readers to go berserk.

HOW DO I CREATE impact that matters and have you not get spooked by the idea that this is my livelihood, so once in a while, I’m going to offer you the products and services that I’ve been creating?  The manifesto outlines my intentions, opens the door for your feedback, and transparently and explicitly tells why I do what I do.

My Why:  in reading my posts and receiving my updates, I hope that your life will be better than when you clicked on the email (even if it’s just the tiniest bit).

    • Maybe you chuckle, laugh out loud, or even pee a little from something I’ve been brave enough to share.
    • Perhaps your mind shifts, you consider a new perspective or discover a new layer to explore in yourself in one of the many roles you are playing, and in that exploration, you grow, even if by accident.
    • You read a book or attend an event I recommend that brings you joy and insight or even changes your life.
    • You are introduced to a new person or concept that you connect with deeply; they inspire you and your community to expand.
    • By reading about my ups and downs, you will know that you aren’t alone because you’ll see I’m going through real stuff too.
    • Perhaps you are my mom or a friend, and reading my stuff keeps you closely connected with what I’m doing, thinking, and feeling.
    • You get to know me well enough to know have a good filter to see if I would be a good coach or business advisor to you.

Referrals & Affiliates: I will refer you to events, books, people, programs, sometimes products. I will tell it as it is, and only refer things that have served me. I have yet to receive a commission or referral for doing this, but I hope one day I could tell you what I think is good and get paid at the same time!!! That would be sweet. What I won’t do, is sell out by telling you about something I don’t confidently support.

My Services:  In my business, I make a living helping people connect with and live out their purpose. I do that through the tools I've developed like the Life Inventory Assessment; through coaching entrepreneurs and business leaders; and through custom retreat experiences.

This is my life, so the topics I write about are closely tied to the products I create and the people I serve.  At times, I will tell you what I’m doing or if I’m available for coaching and what products or programs I have created. When I have something new that is being launched, this will typically mean a short period (7-10 days) of more emails about that specific thing.

My intention is to provide enough information to break through the regular heavy filters of your busy life; so that you know there is something new available.  I hope to get enough of your attention that you evaluate it and make an informed choice, but not bombard you so much that I lose you forever.  This is a delicate balance that I will try my best at.

My Asks:

    • Your Feedback - corrective: At any time you feel I’ve violated our trust, please tell me. Be specific, so that I know what it was, and that I can grow with grace from it.
    • Your Feedback - encouragement: writing to a group can be a painfully lonely process. Please know that I am a person. When I write to you, I’m sharing aspects of my soul, and I love it when you let me know you’ve heard it. Tell me what you liked, if you smiled, if you met someone or learned something if you think I’m crazy, but you love me anyway.
    • Share - if you have someone in your circle, a friend, family member, colleague, or maybe a group you are on, and you think that one of my messages would land for them, please take two minutes to share it.

I want to grow my community and serve as many people as I can. My livelihood depends on me creating things of value, and having those things find the people they can serve. The filters are high out there, so the safest way for others to accept new influence in their world is through the direct referral of people they already trust, and that is you.

If you have suggestions on how I can make it easier for you to share, please share them with me: [email protected].
